Howdy,
Just wanted to tell a bit about a reading performance that I was involved in at the South London Gallery, Peckham on Wednesday.
Written and devised by aspiring writer/artist Emily Whitebread, the text was in 6 parts with an actor reading each part. I was given the last part (also the longest) which talks about a space mission, circling the Earth's Atmosphere and completing your mission.
Performing in a gallery is something relatively new to me but I love the rawness of it and like theatre, mistakes are seen live!!
We were positioned against the wall in a smaller room within the gallery, with neutral lighting and were told to project our voices so the sound would echo around the room, which sounded rather good.
I really enjoyed being a part of this reading performance because there was no set, costumes or visual elements, it was taking theatre back to its simplicity and focusing purely on the text.
(Also getting a loveheart shaped box of chocolates as a token of appreciation also rocked!)
