No One's Code

Hey,

I just wanted to share a little bit about a short film that I was cast in , that was centered around the issue of human rights and will premeire at the Human Rights Festival next week.
I  was extremely excited to be cast because I have such little experience performing to a camera which is all changing now though!
Titled "No -Ones code, it is a take of 1984 in some ways, all of the characters have no individual identity, they all wear the same colour clothes and are all considered as just workers, not real people. There is definitely a sense of being afraid and just doing what the Government tells you to because you are scared of what could happen to you or your family. Eventually, two of the characters are close to breaking free of their rigid lifestyle but will they be able to and what consequences await them if they do. It is highly deep and emotional writing. I was cast as Worker 5 and shooting was very enjoyable. Less pressure than if it were a stage show but on set, you do tend to make friends quite easily and it ends up being an enjoyable day's filming. I cannot wait for it to premiere and I just hope that we did the tense subject justice, I also find that my love for being in front of the camera is increasingly growing too.

Text Workshop presents OBSESSION

I'm very excited to talk a little bit about a performance that I am doing with five other actors for one of my university modules on Tuesday 6th December.
Its for a class called Text Workshop and the basis of it is that we have to create our own piece based on another theatre company, their theatre making process and the way they create theatre. We chose to do our show based on "Forced Entertainment" who are a very sucessful and unique theatre company that have been around since 1982.
Their performances tend to focus more on text and dialogue, they do use sets, costumes and lighting but in quite a minimalistic style, for them its about creating another word through speech which is both appealing and different.
Below are links to two of their performances which I think are simply spectacular :

Our performance like theirs, is driven by text and speech around one main theme of Obsession and the different ways it can be expressed such as obsession with a celebrity or obsession with a complete stranger.
I am very happy to be doing this performance because not only have I learnt so much about Forced Entertainment's style of work but i have also had the opportunity to delve much deeper into my own obsession with a celebrity which has proved both challenging and tricky.
I can honestly say that as a group, we have worked very hard on this show because we want it to be a true reflection of forced entertainment and want to do it justice.
Our first technical run throughs take place early this coming week , and i think (and hope) that we are ready for it !

On Set

Helllloooo

I'm so happy to give some information about my first short film !! I've been on set today waiting and filming and I have to say so far its been a great experience.
The filiming today was basically test shots to see how all the cast work together and check the looks visually, the actual shooting takes place in January ( so its bound to be freezing).
The concept of the film is an interesting one. It focuses on the main male lead whose life is practically miserable. He gets ignored and is invisible by everyone else, co workers, family even strangers on the street. One main prop throughout is a small orange that appears in several different places. The man builds up a somewhat tempestous relationship with a woman who break her heel and she is the only one who recgonizes him as a human being. The questions expressed are will this man commit suicide because of the darkness in his life and is there anyone who can save him?
Even though my love is the stage, being on set and filming in front of a camera has a certain charm to it. Knowing that you can retake takes off some of the pressure!!!
I think the test shoots went well and I cannot wait to come back and film again in January , we even got biscuits and celebrations for our talents :)

What were the skies like when we were younger?

Howdy,

Just wanted to tell a bit about a reading performance that I was involved in at the South London Gallery, Peckham on Wednesday.
Written and devised by aspiring writer/artist Emily Whitebread, the text was in 6 parts with an actor reading each part. I was given the last part (also the longest) which talks about a space mission, circling the Earth's Atmosphere and completing your mission.
Performing in a gallery is something relatively new to me but I love the rawness of it and like theatre, mistakes are seen live!!
We were positioned against the wall in a smaller room within the gallery, with neutral lighting and were told to project our voices so the sound would echo around the room, which sounded rather good.
I really enjoyed being a part of this reading performance because there was no set, costumes or visual elements, it was taking theatre back to its simplicity and focusing purely on the text.
(Also getting a loveheart shaped box of chocolates as a token of appreciation also rocked!)

YOUMEBUMBUMTRAIN

An exciting performance that gives me goosebumps everytime I think about it ... I am part of the cast for the 2011 theatre show by the Youmebumbumtrain theatre company.

Everything is top secret , but it is an absolute pleasure to be acting for them... I did not had the chance to experience their previous show as a passenger but I have heard how awesome it was!!!

It's definitely keeping me busy (what with everything else i'm doing) but it is worth it and i know how amazing this new ride is going to be.

Below is the link for a video on Youtube. The video contains passenger's reactions from their last show and only highlight the originality and new flavour that is the BumBumtrain.

Olympic Audition Update

Hello all,

I thought it would be good to update the status on my application to be a performer at the 2012 Olympics opening and closing ceremonies.
I attended my first audition on Wednesday 2nd November and let me just start by saying i have never been so tired in my whole life.... I had a great time and experience there, I cannot directly reveal what was done but it was a very fun way to spend an evening!!
Though i was feeling positive about my audition, other performers out there will know the anticipation and nervousness you feel when waiting to know if you've got a recall or not (especially when you want it as much as I do)
Thankfully, I received an email last night inviting me to a recall audition !!!!!!! That is usually the time when you praise yourself on the fact that you must have done something right :)
Hopefully my recall will be just as much fun as the first audition was and I will shine like i did before.
After my recall, I will keep notified as to the final outcome of this long audition process :)

"Bryony Brownwell's Mystery Project"

I was extremely happy to voice audition and get cast in a brand new radio play for the most popular childrens radio station FUNKIDS.
The play titled "Bryony Brownwell's Mystery Project" centres around a bunch of young schoolchildren who decide not to do any of their homework and instead solve the mystery's that happen in their school. The play will broadcast either december/early january and it is in 10 mini episodes.
I cannot express what a joy it was to be in a professional recording studio , recording my first ever radio play.. It was different to what I am used to which is live performing in theatres and galleries but I had a blast and doing radio work was very fun :)

My character was Piper , who is the cheekest and silliest girl which was fun to act and different to anything i've done before.
Was such a pleasure and I hope when it broadcasts that it gets a great reception !!!
