Text Workshop presents OBSESSION

I'm very excited to talk a little bit about a performance that I am doing with five other actors for one of my university modules on Tuesday 6th December.
Its for a class called Text Workshop and the basis of it is that we have to create our own piece based on another theatre company, their theatre making process and the way they create theatre. We chose to do our show based on "Forced Entertainment" who are a very sucessful and unique theatre company that have been around since 1982.
Their performances tend to focus more on text and dialogue, they do use sets, costumes and lighting but in quite a minimalistic style, for them its about creating another word through speech which is both appealing and different.
Below are links to two of their performances which I think are simply spectacular :

Our performance like theirs, is driven by text and speech around one main theme of Obsession and the different ways it can be expressed such as obsession with a celebrity or obsession with a complete stranger.
I am very happy to be doing this performance because not only have I learnt so much about Forced Entertainment's style of work but i have also had the opportunity to delve much deeper into my own obsession with a celebrity which has proved both challenging and tricky.
I can honestly say that as a group, we have worked very hard on this show because we want it to be a true reflection of forced entertainment and want to do it justice.
Our first technical run throughs take place early this coming week , and i think (and hope) that we are ready for it !
